What are Internal Links?

The term Internal Links refers to Hyperlinks that are created to navigate to a certain page existing on the same domain. In simple words, it is a way to link another page of the same website.

What's The Use?

Many people must be wondering what the point is of having internal links apart from the obvious fact that they allow easy navigation on the same website. The answer is that a large number of internal links translate into a better ranking in search results; hence better blog conversion rate and internal links are responsible for creating an information hierarchy of any website.

How the Text Should Be?

When adding links within your content, it's vital to use descriptive text or relevant keywords that will give the reader a clear idea of where the link will lead them.

How Do Internal Links Actually Help?

Let's consider the search engine client as a spider that needs to crawl your webpage in order to check for relevant content. Think of your webpage as having five pages titled from A to E. Once the spider has reached your Webpage A, it will gather information from there and ignore the rest of the pages unless there are relevant internal links placed on Webpage A

Now think that Webpage A has internal links to Webpage B and E; the spider will then move and decide to check on those pages for relevant information as well. However, in this process, the spider will skip pages C and D because there is no internal link to bridge those pages together.

Hence, even if your webpage C and D had absolutely impeccable content filed with proper keywords and relevant content, your pages would still be overlooked because the spider couldn't crawl through the pages. Many webpages decide to bury their site navigation system, which is a huge blunder because that is what makes search engines overlook their websites which translates into a small negligible audience.

Bottomline:

At the end of the day, having internal links on your website is not just user-friendly since it allows navigation across your website, but also it has the chance to augment your organic traffic by increasing your search engine standing.
