Google has been constantly striving to make user experience better and better and this constant struggle can be witnessed in the form of continuous penguin and panda updates launched by Google. In order to improve the user experience, Google has been worked thoroughly over the provision of more appropriate and to the point search results, also known as SERPs.

Answer Box

What is an answer box? A featured extract which is also known as snippet or answer box is often displayed if to Google any query or search term seems like a question. This featured extract is contained within a white box and usually appears on the top of the page below the search query. Within this answer box, the link and URL of the website is also present from which the content has been derived.

These answer boxes or rich snippets can be seen on the Google pages since quite a few years but nowadays these have become pretty common as Google’s tech bots are able to understand better the search queries such as whether the user is asking for a question or a definition or simply for content.

How to trigger an answer box?

Google displays an answer box when its bots realize that a question has been asked. But not all the questions triggers an answer box neither do all the searches that trigger answer box are questions.

First you need to inquire what questions are being asked about regarding your subject. One of the tools related is also available on the internet such as Answer the Public etc. which tells you the questions people can ask about your subject. This tool is affiliated with Google Suggest with which it is able to gather questions.

One of the tools available on the internet can also help you determine those questions which the general public is asking regarding your subject outside Google and other search engines.

Create content that answers a question

Secondly, create the content which genuinely answers a question in order to appear in the Google Answer Box. Google is looking for that content which significantly looks like an answer and for that you should create quantitative and qualitative content and make sure you should optimize the rest of the page regarding the answer that you have created.
