Rookie SEO mistake
14 Apr 2016

“Some say Google is God. Others say Google is Satan. But if they think Google is too powerful, remember that with search engines unlike other companies, all it takes is a single click to go to another search engine.” (Sergey Brin)

An entrepreneur feels completely elated when he sees his website ranks on the top of the page. You write your name and cannot even find your name on top of page 1 amongst the list of entrepreneur within your locality only. You start thinking that you have done whatever it was on the list like adding relevant keywords, usage of meta tags, tags etc. But still somehow you haven’t succeeded.

Mistakes

There would have been some rookie SEO mistakes that you have made without even acknowledging them;

·         Google my business page

Google offers my business page to everyone out there and getting this help from Google means getting the ladder to reach top the search results. For enhancing your local SEO ranking, you should have your Google business page and your updated profile should consist of your updated name, address and phone number.

·         Rebranding

Persistently, changing the name of your brand, domain name and NAP details then you’re just simply losing your customers. Trustworthy customers will only come back to you and will be able to reach your website only if you have kept the same brand name as it was when the website was first made live. Rebranding is simply synonyms of how to lose your customers. The company should stick to one brand name and one domain name and that should be the characteristic identity of it for ages.

·         Overlooking other search engines

This is simply no good option of overlooking other search engines especially when your competitors are also overlooking them. It is epic if your customers are not taking notice of other search engines. Yahoo and Bing like Google allow you to add your NAP information.

You are just considering other search engines so that you can have a greater chunk on the major one too.

·         Branching options

If your brand consists of multiple branches in multiple locations, then the easiest option is to include every branch’s address and phone number. This will not only strengthen your local SEO but will also allow the customers to find you in a variety of niche.

“The kind of environment that we developed Google in, the reason that we were able to develop a search engine, is the web was so open. Once you get too many rules, that will stifle innovation.” (Sergey Brin)
