Sixth sense technology: Future Tech

“The sixth sense is at the core of our experiences. It is what makes experiences out of events.” (Henry Reed)

Technology has already baffled all of us and has hypnotized us with its never ending perks of luxury. We can no longer imagine of living without technology for even a single second. Another awe-inspiring step that technology has taken is ‘sixth sense technology’ which is a magnificent miracle. In the movies, all of us have encountered that via our gestures and directions commodities and instructions can bedirected.

Sixth sense technology has been named as such because in the form of technology or digital world, we are able to clench information. In addition to our 5 senses, another sense will also modify our resources by providing us information in the digitalized form.

This fancy with time, has transmuted into reality in the form of sixth sense technology. With the help of our gestures, we will now be able to command and direct things. This approach seems very futuristic indeed.

The technology in itself

Sixth sense technology is basically a device that encompasses the neck-worn pendant associated with both the camera and data projector. This name was coined in 2001 but the first form of this device was invented in 1997 as a head-worn device whereas in 1998 as a neck-worn device.

·        Aim

The purpose of this technology is to link both the digital world and the real world in such a way that digital world superimposes the real world.

God has given us senses for the comprehension and illustration of objects and information in our minds so that we can grasp information instantaneously. The aim of the sixth sense technology is pretty much spoofing. Sixth sense technology allows us to grasp the information solicitously.

“A good traveler is one who knows how to travel with the mind.” (Michael Bassey Johnson)

Wear your world (WuW)

The very modified and absolute flawless sixth sense device was invented by MIT researchers, who were compelled to produce something efficient and arduous. This device has a concoction of three different devices i.e. webcam, projector and a mobile phone. This device could be interpreted as a PC working 24*7 in front of ourselves, dictated and commanded by our gestures and hand motives.

Features

Certain colored tapes and caps are positioned on all the fingers. When you need to click a picture, a gesture with the help of fingers is transmitted by shaping a rectangular with the fingers. Similarly, a clock can be viewed by encircling a circle at the wrist. Also, a number of applications can be viewed, if your back is balanced on the wall; the projector will show variable applications and the net surfing option is activated too. Sixth sense technology is also user friendly.

Sixth sense technology, despite of its damn appealing features failed to entice the population. The reasons are probably unknown. Assumptions could be that the MIT researchers did not find it useful because they didn’t seem to advertise about this project much or that the initial response from the market was not much of a hype which declined its importance. Also, the hardware instructions were also not much descriptive.

“We have five senses in which we glory and which we recognize and celebrate, senses that constitute the sensible world for us. But there are other senses -- secret senses, sixth senses, if you will -- equally vital, but unrecognized and unlauded. These senses, unconscious, automatic, had to be discovered.” (Oliver Sacks)
