“Google is the gym of social networking: We all join but nobody actually uses it.”

Have you ever tried searching yourself on Google? Does your business, working hours and business address show up right away? If that’s not the case, then you are missing up on a large chunk on the business side. The bright side is that Google has taken the initiative to help you out and resolve this issue.

Google announced a few days ago that they are taking the first step in promoting all the major small businesses on the map. Google’s new initiative is aptly titled as Let’s Put Our Cities on the Map which aims on helping the small businesses across American cities to gain more visibility in their search results and other services.

Google’s ambitious plans can be determined from the fact that they have created a custom website for almost each town and city in the US and on the last estimate these websites were calculated to be around 30,000 in number. Each one of those custom website aims at providing small business owners with step-wise directions on how to create a ‘Google My Business listing’ as well as how to improve their listings in the Search Engine’s results. The site also advises on how to optimize the information on Google Maps and Google+.

According to the head of marketing of Google’s Get Your Business Online program, Soo Young Kim said that they aimed at making the process of acquiring online presence as simple as possible for small businesses so that it makes it easier for their customers to find them.

Google says that the localized websites that they launched are featured with a diagnostic tool which grants the users access to a diagnostic tool which allows their users to see how well their businesses appear in the Search Engine Result Page. The website also features a tool that allows websites to get their companies verified for Google Searches while allowing them to add photos, business information, operation timings etc. If needed, the website also allows business to secure a domain name and a website for their businesses through their partners StartLogic which will be free for a year.

The Visitors to Google’s Let’s Put Our Cities on the Map websites will also receive notifications for in-person training which Google will host by collaborating with organizations that aim to elevate small business growth across America such as Chambers of Commerce, SCORE Chapters and Small Business Development Centers.

Google’s aspirational plans are being forged for the promotion of visibility of small businesses thus welcoming with a lot of zeal. Once the program is completed it will undoubtedly promote the growth of small businesses. With the expansion of internet, it is critical that all businesses occupy a spot online and make their digital presence felt amongst the masses.
